Getting away from it all

The other weekend my husband took part in the Man v Mountain race. This 20-odd mile run involves running up and down Snowdon and the surrounding countryside, as well as jumping into quarry pools, abseiling and other silly things. I’m not unfit, but that was waaaaay beyond my capabilities, so I spent a lovely weekend pottering around Carenafon and Llanberis in Snowdonia. Even though it was only a weekend, it felt like a proper holiday and was really relaxing.

While I was waiting to pick up my husband at the end of the race, I took a boat ride around the Padarn Lake on the Snowdon Star, it was so peaceful and the scenery was spectacular – I almost fell asleep!

cropped snowdon in the sunI treated myself to this slightly tacky tapestry pincushion from a little craft shop in the car park (bit random) and it has pride of place on my craft room shelf. welsh tapestry pincushionAfter I left my husband in the hotel to have a nap after his ordeal, I had a wander around Caernafon. I found a lovely shop called Lottie and Wren, where I got some sweet presents for a friend of mine (and a few goodies for myself too). I also found this amazing street name!
